Urgent appointments
To request an urgent appointment for today or tomorrow (Monday to Friday) during opening times:
- phone us on Millwood Surgery 01493 444484 or Falkland Surgery 01493 442233
When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with.
We will use your answers to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or healthcare professional to help you.
Routine appointments
You can request a routine appointment in advance during opening times:
We will pass on your completed form to the relevant clinician or department that is best suited to deal with your issue and will aim to respond to your request within 2 working days.
You can also:
- phone us on Millwood Surgery 01493 444484 or Falkland Surgery 01493 442233
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App) or SystmOnline to book an appointment, screening test or vaccination
- use our nurse or healthcare assistant appointment request form and we will respond within 2 working days
Where possible, we will book you an appointment with your usual GP. This may not always be possible, in which case we may offer you an appointment with an alternative GP.
Enhanced access
We work together with other practices to offer patients ‘improved access’ to pre-bookable appointments mondays, tuesdays and wednesdays until 8pm and at the weekend.
Millwood Surgery is now open alternate Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.
Your appointment
The doctors will always try their best to give enough time to each patient. Please try and ensure that if you have more than one problem that you let us know on our online form, or discuss this with reception and consider booking a double appointment. Please also remember that each appointment is for one patient only; if two members of one family need to be seen, they must book their own individual appointments.
However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
Appointments by phone can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Text message reminders
You can now register to receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- use our cancel an appointment form
- phone us on Millwood Surgery 01493 444484 or Falkland Surgery 01493 442233 during opening times
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone or face-to-face
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
Home visits are for patients who physically cannot attend the surgery. They should be medically justifiable and not requested for social convenience. When requesting a home visit, please submit our get help for any health problem form before 10:30am.
Please give the receptionists some details of the problem, allowing the ‘on the day’ team to assess the urgency and plan their visits accordingly.
A clinician may phone you back, as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a district nurse, or possibly arrange a hospital attendance.
Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
